Get Your Life Together: Habits & Self Care Challenge

Hey guys! Welcome back to Lavendaire. Today we’re doing another Get Your Life Together
challenge, and we’re focusing on habits. First off, I’d like to thank Care/of
for sponsoring this video. I’ll talk about them more later on. The focus is on building positive habits and
the most important thing is consistency. I know that I struggle with consistency with my habits, and I’m sure a lot of you out there struggle with that too,
so I thought I’d do this challenge to see if we can do our most important positive habits
every single day for at least five days. One of my favorite books that I always mention
is called The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. And in that book, the author talks about how
important it is to be consistent and take small, consistent actions every single
day to take you towards your goal. So it’s better to do something small every single day,
rather than working in spurts – like doing a lot at a time, taking a break for a month
or two months, and then doing it again. What I’m trying to say is: If you carve out
time to do your habits every single day and be consistent about them, you might not
feel like you’re changing a lot day-to-day, but if you zoom out and see the bigger picture, you’re going to see some major changes in your life. So consider it an investment in yourself: investing 15 minutes to meditate here,
15 minutes to journal there. Just know that it will have a lasting impact in your life. So this week, I’m going to pick four habits to focus on and I’m going to track in them in my Habit Tracker
in my Artist of Life Workbook. So I’m going to focus on doing morning pages
(or just journaling), meditating, taking vitamins every day, and reading every evening. I also track some other habits, but I’m going
to consider those bonuses and focus just on my four main habits done
every single day for this week. So let’s start the challenge. Morning! It’s Day 1 on my get on my habits,
consistency, whatever week. I am making my way to go to yoga. I was kind of in a rush this morning because I don’t want to be late, so going there right now. But that is good. I actually went to exercise yesterday as well,
so it’s the second day. I’m happy about that. Yoga session: good. It’s like 2:30 right now. I just finished work, but I’m going to commit
to reading ten pages. And I’m going to do it here because Wilson’s
sleeping in the bedroom. Good morning! So I have lunch plans today and I thought I overslept. I thought I slept past my alarm. So when I woke up, I was like, “Oh my god,
I woke up too late.” And I checked my phone, and it happened to be three minutes right before my alarm was gonna go off. So I woke up at 9:57 AM
and my alarm was set to 10:00 AM. So that is a win on the sleep side. And now I have a few extra moments to do my
morning routine and get those habits in! So let’s do it! Today I think I’m going to take my vitamins separately,
because it was a lot at once yesterday. So I’m going to split it up throughout the day. I just finished lunch and I am going to take
some vitamins in my car. I think I’ll do like four, whatever comes out. That day, I went to Wilson’s office to do
some work regarding the workbook, and also help him bring his plants to his
office that day. I ended work pretty late, but I wanted to
commit to my reading habits so I started reading around 2:00 AM. I realize now that I have to end work earlier, and this is what I was trying to work on last
week with my sleep schedule. I’m still working on it: stopping work earlier,
getting to get earlier, so I then have time to read and then go to sleep
at a normal time. So today I woke up late and I didn’t feel
very motivated or positive. I just felt kind of like,
“Ugh, I want to be a potato today.” So I didn’t feel like vlogging. I just did a live video on YouTube though, and then now I’m going to take time to journal
and meditate and get some work done. Hello! Good morning, it’s Saturday. We actually work up at 8:30 AM and went to
a movie screening at 9:00 AM, but now we’re gonna get lunch and I’m going
to take my vitamins. By the way, if you’re curious about the vitamins
I’m taking, they’re from Care/of. Care/of delivers daily vitamin and supplement packs, customized to promote personal health and wellness. Each pack also has your name on it and also
a cute quote or challenge. I love how personal they get. You take a five-minute quiz on their site, which is like getting a consultation with a nutritionist. Then they recommend a personalized vitamin
pack based on your needs. From there you can read more about each vitamin
they recommend and even edit your pack. For example: They recommended me fish oil
for omega 3, but I swapped it out for the Veggie Omega
option that’s made from micro-algae. After trying it out for a week, I really liked
that the vitamins come in daily packages because it encouraged me to finish my packet each day. I could also take the packet with me in my purse, so I could take the vitamins later on in the
day or when I’m still out. If you’d like to try Care/of, you can get
25% off your first month by going to and
using the promo code “lavendaire”. You can also find that link down below. So Day 5, thankfully I had time to take my vitamins, journal, and meditate in the morning. And that day was really fun since I went out to this new foodie museum popup that my friends started. And we just had a lot of fun exploring that space,
taking photos. I was actually looking forward to ending my night early so that I could read and practice Chinese. I just found a new spark of motivation and passion for it, which is something that I haven’t felt in a while. It was Sunday night, so I also had time to
put on a sheet mask and give myself a little extra skin care that night. At the end of this five day challenge, I can
say that this week was easier than last week. It’s easier for me to incorporate consistent daily habits, than it is to wake up earlier every day. But I still see how essential the sleep part is because if I sleep earlier, I can wake up earlier and have more time for that morning routine
and all those habits in the morning. The habit that I was most excited about bringing
back into my life was reading every evening. This is something that I used to do last year
or maybe a couple years ago, and I stopped doing it because I got busy
and I would just work late without reading. But bringing back reading into my life has
inspired me again. I love learning new things and exploring and I even got back into practicing Chinese and learning languages. It’s really nice to be able to carve out time for my
own personal growth, because I think I get the most out of reading
new books, discovering new things. Another thing I realized was a challenge this
year was living with my boyfriend, because living with someone else with their
own sleep cycle and habits and stuff, it’s hard to compromise with your own. So for example, I used to love reading in
bed before going to sleep, but if my boyfriend’s sleeping earlier than
me, then you know, when I’m in bed, the lights have to be off
and I can’t really read. So I think that’s why I stopped reading at night. And so this week I had to kind of reformat my habit. I don’t have to read in bed. Instead, I can read in the living room or at my desk, or somewhere else while my boyfriend’s sleeping. So this week, I would say the challenge was
a success for me. I learned what criteria I need to get all my habits consistently done every single day, how to kind of reshape
and reformat things to fit them in. So I’d like to know if you guys are up for
this challenge. Are you going to focus on being consistent
with your habits? Let me know down below, which four habits
you would like to work on this week. And if you do the challenge,
let me know how you do as well. I’d love to hear your updates. So stay tuned for next week, because we’re
going to be tackling our home. So it’s going to be all about tidying, cleaning,
organizing, getting your home together, and also getting your home habits in place so that you keep it organized as best as you can. Make sure you subscribe if you haven’t already. I love you all so much. See you next time. Bye!

  1. I used the Habit Tracker in my Artist of Life Workbook in this video! Here are the links to both 2018 & 2019 versions 🙂 These are the perfect gift for the holidays!

    → 2019 Artist of Life Workbook |
    → 2018 Artist of Life Workbook |

  2. Also I live with my boyfriend and I think it is hard at times to keep up with our own daily routines, but I think it is all the more crucial to take care of ourselves when living with our hubbies so that we can continually give our best version of ourselves! ☺
Take care 💖 and keep up the good work as you are 👍😇

  3. Awesome! 🙂 The four habits I'm dedicated to working on this week are:
    *Practicing morning yoga
    *Reading for 30 minutes everyday
    *Learning French through songs
    *Improving some dance sequences

  4. This video is in perfect timing because I've started on 2 daily habits (bed by 10:30pm, leave for work before 6am). They're quite challenging because I'm not a morning person but I'm on day 3 and I feel so good about not having to rush and feel stressed going to work. I'm going to add drinking 8 glasses of water and, like you, reading daily as well. (By the way, if you want to read in bed, consider a Kindle because you don't need light for it and it's backlight doesn't have that blue filter that's waking us up) I love your videos, you are such a positive person! Have a great day 🙂

  5. normal working people and students cannot find the time to self care like you do so this is no help for anyone with a life involving responsibilities that can't be stretched

  6. I love this idea. I will have to give it some thought about the exact things I would like to work on. Thanks for the idea.

  7. Try Deepak and Oprah 21-day Meditation Experience by Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey. This is an awesome meditation and is profound.

  8. 4 habits I want to focus on are:
    – wake up at 6:30/7:00 everyday (depending also on what time I went to sleep)
    – go on my phone MUCH less ( I’ve been wanting to fix this habit for 2 years now but I’ve never really done it, my phone always wins against me, but those days I decided to really just not be dependent on my phone and leave it alone, infact my phone usage has Gina down by 20% this week!)
    – and pray more often ! ( I consider praying a form of meditation 🧘‍♀️ )

  9. Thank you for the extra nudge lol here we go..
    3-eat better
    4-organize/ eliminate
    5- don't give up

  10. 5 things I want to work on daily:

    1. 30 mins of exercising per day
    2. Reading more
    3. Studying languages
    4. Drawing more
    5. 30 mins of cleaning up per day

  11. I accept you're challenge, in always feeling sluggish and anxious, i don't get many things done and when I do something wrong I always mentally bully myself, maybe this challenge will help.

Dieting and exercise – I've always wanted to be vegan and loose weight but always pushed the thought away as if I was foolish for even thinking that, so here's my chance!

Sleep patterns – I only sleep when I'm exhausted to the point where I can't keep my eyes open, I remember when I was younger I used to control my sleep a lot (I would go to sleep at 9, and wake up at 1 to watch TV and get ready for school, I never felt sluggish then so I'll try something similar)

Fresh air! – I don't go outside that much since there's no one to play with anymore, all my friends have just grown away from me, but that's no excuse for my inactivity. I have a dog, he'll probably be happy to get outside for more than 2 minutes.

Read! – I love books I have favorite books Warrior cats has over 70 books in total, READ THEM

I'll think of more later ^^

  12. Please stop those vitamins beautiful girl. They are very dangerous, in other countries of tbe world we take none and we know how dangerous they are. Search about them, please stop them you don't need them. They wsnt to sell that's why they maje you want to eat them.

  13. Aileen, you're awesome. Thank you for showing your flaws/challenges. I deal with a lot of the same ones and watching you made me realize, things don't have to be perfect, but you just gotta keep going!

  14. The five habits(I added one more lol) I'm gonna work on for this week:
    1. Neck-down shower every night
    2. Read book for school
    3. Devotional
    4. Workout
    5. Language Learning
These will be daily and if I do at least three out of five every day, I'll be happy. 🙂

  20. Hi.
I'm going to try the challenge. The 4 things I need to do regularly and keep track are :-
    1) keep my books neat
    2) Study everyday
    3) Use mobile from 5:30 to 7:00 only daily.
    4) gratefulness diary.

And… I hope you are fine Aileen.. I love your videos. May god bless you dear

  21. Hello. The video is really lovevly, calming and well-made. But i have one big critic. The daily packages for the vitamins are EXTREMLY wasteful. Moreover they dont have to be packaged in daily bags. I know, it helps to fullfill the daily task, but imagine if everyone would do it. It's incredible waste! The world is more important than daily tasks. I hope this didnt sound rude and you might consider it.

  22. Vitamins are great, but since you did some videos on reducing waste before it made me a bit feel a bit weird to see you promoting it since these single use packages are very wasteful, even more if they're plastic. There's better ways of getting vitamins

  23. Prayer, listening to an audio book, learning something new everyday even if it's just a quote or saying ,eat healthy meaning I'll be cooking more

  24. Love this idea! I am definitely interested in this the challenge. I just turn 31 in April and I feel as if the whole year of 30 has been spent with personal growth in mind!!! Excited about your next video as well!!

  25. Great video, I love how realistic you are being with this challenge including the last video. Thanks for the inspo! I gotta sort the sleep (I'm the opposite to you, writing this at 6:15am, woke up at 5:30 and checked the phone now can't get back to sleep!) so the habits I'll go with are leaving my phone outside my bedroom at night, drinking 1.5l water a day, meditating daily and making breakfast every morning 🙂 Pray for me ;-P

  26. Love your channel! So thankful I found you! The four habits I want to work on are keeping up with the decluttering, journaling with art, bedtime routine and being more patient/understand with my son. 😀

  27. This is what I'm gonna do:
    1. Drink a glass of water and honey straight after wake up
    2. Do morning walk
    3. Eat good breakfast with the girls
    4. Deep work 4 hours/day
    5. Wind down at 11pm

  28. I want to focus on:
Fashion (I know it might sound dumb but I'm looking forwards to finding my style)
Language skills (I'm trying to learn french)

  29. Hi! Can you do one for parents ? I mean for a parents life ( how manage kids and a healthy life style at the same time).😊😊

  30. Love this series! It's my first time to see your vblogs and it's really helpful I'm motivated to get my life together. I'm a mom of one and it's really hard to stick to healthy habits like this. But it's worth it!

  31. Your voice is so calming and you motivate me to try and take better care of myself !! I’m going to start doing little habits and trying to fix my sleep schedule 💞

  32. You are much younger than me, but you inspire me young lady, so thank you. 1) I will focus on writing in my gratitude journal everyday 2) 15-20 min. of exercise daily and 3) eating healthier, by having breakfast

  39. I am 14 years old. I love your videos. I need your advice , please help me.
To go to school, I wake up at 6:30 am. And I come back home at 4:00. And then, I go to tutions at 5:15 and come back at 7:00 pm. And then, I take around 1 hour to change into some regular clothes that I wear at home, and eat something and watch youtube and instagram. And then, I start doing homework, and I have to work on that for around 1 or 1 and a half hour. And then, I go to sleep at 11 or 12 pm, because of which I have difficulty waking up the next day. Also, the next day would be as hectic as the one before it, so I can't find peace and time for myself. Also, I don't have much time to prepare for my exams which are around a month away. And even if I have the time, I don't have the mood for it. I feel lazy and bored. Please tell me what I can do.

  40. I'm going to try and work on:
    – Morning Pages
    – Reading 10+ pages
    – tidying my surroundings
    – and creating something
