Menopause: How to Avoid Weight Gain

Hi everyone! Today, I’m giving you two tips
to avoid weight gain during menopause. During menopause, hormone changes cause the fat to
redistribute around the waist, but the weight gain that’s often observed at menopause
is not only due to menopause but also to lifestyle changes and age. So for example, it’s been
observed that menopausal women do less physical activity than before and also with age basal
metabolism and muscle mass decrease which means that menopausal women burn less calories
at rest than before. But the good news is that it’s possible to avoid gaining weight
at menopause. Here are my two tips. So first tip, eat 200 less calories per day than before.
So there’s many ways of achieving that, you could for example drink less alcohol or
less sweet drinks or again add a high protein and high-fibre snacks between your meals to
avoid being too hungry at meals and to help you decrease your serving sizes at meals.
Examples of good snacks are veggies with hummus or a fruit with a handful of nuts. And second
tip: be more active. So do at least 150 minutes per week of moderate intensity exercise such
as brisk walking or 75 minutes per week of higher intensity exercise such as jogging
or interval training. Also, do weight training exercices at least twice a week to help you maintain
your muscle mass. Don’t hesitate to share this video and to leave us your comments!
