  1. Who, what and how do we impose this on Insurance companies that makes the medical choices for individuals? Here is where part of the problem worsens..

  2. Thank you so much,dr fung you are the only one who inspired me when I watched your video about high blood sugar and how to get it back to normal.
I was diagnosed with 12.8 A1c,in less than six months I dropped it down to 5.6 without a single pill in my mouth (only the first 3 days then I stopped them.)
Lost weight, watched the food I eat(healthyfood), no more sugary drinks ,no more fast food.
Thank you so much again for your informative videos.

  3. Most doctors don't do research. Most doctors are just people who spent a lot of money to repeat what they read in a book. They may be able to school me on anatomy and the names of drugs and diseases, but they don't necessarily know any more than the rest of us about health and nutrition.

Dr Fung is one of the few that are well educated, and not over-educated.

  4. As a Muslim we recommended by Prophet Muhammad to fast one day every week if we could ..also fast Ramadan (( complete month )) every year.

  5. a lot of people are resistent to change, and keep in mind medical doctors make money writing prescriptions, and performing surgery, not in getting people to change their lifestyle. I remember 40 years ago, smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol (including hard liquor) was very commonplace. Think of the insanity that people not only smoked at their desk at work, but also on airplanes, trains (with children sitting right next to them), as well as many other public places. Many people would drink alcohol (including hard liquor) at lunch time during a work day, and often people went out after work getting drunk with coworkers, on a weekly basis. Also lot of people would drive drunk (including high school students), on a regular basis. If you confronted people who were 'buzzed', they would often become beligerent and insist they were 'fine'. Back then, people who didn't drink alcohol were considered 'odd'. Now where I live dozens and dozens have bars have closed in the past 25 years, and the few that are open, are empty most of the time.

  6. He's right I have diabetes for the last 15yrs I stop eating for about 4 days. I went from 300/ to 89. In to weeks . I did this years. Ago just to see will it work. On my own. No help from Dr.

  7. Too much money is being made off of prescription drugs and surgical amputations. Naturally patients are never told the truth.

  8. Thanks so much for this I am sick of taking metformine and other diabetic drugs for type 2 diabetes I am ill on these drugs side effects

  9. This Doctor is the TRUTH! A month 1/2 ago, it all clicked 💡. I had heard some of these ideas before, but nevertheless (11 years dealing with this ) I was still listening to my so called "Doctor's" who literally crammed carbs and insulin into me and then they made it seem like it was all my fault that I wasn't losing weight or getting it under control. I'm about to cry writing this, it makes me so angry thinking about it. Type 2ers need to see the #'s that's what got me, how I had the ability to lower my blood sugar without meds and the number one thing for me was the Keto lifestyle and IF for the 1st time on any kind of diet I am almost NEVER hungry. 10. I was never asked to test my insulin level.
I’m gaining weight for the last 10 years. But my fasting blood sugar always about 98 but few months ago I check my fasting insulin leve and was 23. And my A1C was 5,6.
Im not a doctor, but I’m Engineer. So I realized that if blood sugar is in the upper limit and the insulin is also in the upper limit = insulin resistance.
I totally removed high glycemic carbohydrates form my diet (few backsliding meals in few months)
Next month I’ll check my blood. Hope to see every marker mid way. :).

  11. I lost 195lbs and my diabetes got better from 550 down to 110 for my normal blood sugar testing but still taking 1000mg of metformin. I don't know what to do. The medicine makes me sick.

  12. I find it ironic that I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes went to four different doctors they all prescribed Metformin and every single one of them doctor said they were on the same medication I have very very little faith in any modern doctors today we're treated like cattle going through a slaughterhouse

  13. You can cut carbs and sugars. You can fast, but if you start eating carbs again the diabetes will come back. It is not cured. You can keep it at bay, but it is never truly reversed and cured. Just like the alcoholic who starts drinking again will find his alcoholism is only gone as long as he stays sober.

  14. How do I stop blood glucose levels going below 2.8 if I fast? I'm currently a type 2 diabetic and taking 1000mg metformin twice a day and 80mg gliclazide n the morning and 40mg gliclazide in the night.

  15. Diabetes is a huge money maker for the healthcare industry. T2 is caused by sugar which leads to the obesity. To reverse T2, remove the sugar, carbs and obesity. It isnt easy but it works. I simply tell myself, do you want to live or do you want to die. Make no mistake, T2 will kill you. People with T2 live an average of 10 years LESS than someone without diabetes. It is truly a disease of diet. If you continue to eat poison (sugar-carbs) it will eventually kill you.

  16. Can anyone explain. I was diagnosed with type one diabetes 22 years ago. But then i had a 15 year honeymoon and now for past 7 years on insulin. So sick of it all. I have never had weight issues but put on 25 pounds over years – now following Dr Kungg’s advice. Can anyone say if I can come off insulin???????

  17. I think it's amazing that the defense department is going to have the military eating Keto! At least one government arm is listening 👂!

  18. Blood sugar control through insulin also disincentivizes exercise because it causes a crash in blood sugars. Or a crutch to allow more consumption of sugar. I've seen people who are on insulin eat crazy stuff then say well that is what the insulin is for.

  20. this man change my life i lost 70 pounds in 4 months and my a1c went from 9.5 to 5.3 and i do blood work every 3 months and all my numbers are perfect. 💪🏻

  21. My grandpa has diabetes type 2 too (he ate really unhealthy when he was a teenager) and lost a lot of weight, is eating very healthy and going to gym so he doesn't need to inject the Insulin or take pills. I am so proud of him. Since he was diagnosed he's the only person I know personally that understands me as I am a diabetic (type 1) myself since I was two years old (I'm 14 now).

  22. While I believe in this advice, isnt this advice dangerous to a diabetic patient who unknowingly just jumps in and decides to fast and then eat a big meal? Hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. What is the recommended way for a diabetic patient to fast?

  23. I have searched high and low about Type 2 Diabetes glucose levels raising during intermittant fasting, yes the dawn phenominen, however, no one says what we can do if it gets really, really high. What to look out for in rising glucose levles. yah I know the liver is pouring out excess fats from that organ but we need more explination on what to do about this and how dangerous is it?

  24. Fasting and cutting out the starchy foods such as rice pasta bread cookies cakes chips etc. and drinking nothing but water only is the best medicine to beat diabetes. Not medication!

  25. I just finished a 3 day fast and my sugar levels are down below 103, finally, yeah. Fasting is the simplest and Cheapest (you don't have to buy food) way to control blood sugar levels Period,

  26. I just love Dr. Jason Fung and Dr. Ken D. Berry, they both sell you nothing, they push nothing but the truth and do it for free.  Amazing Doctors 🙂

  27. This is all true except the part that if that Type two drank or ate any kind of sugar they would still be resistant… they are still not cured.

  28. Been doing Keto for 3 months now, came off all diabetic meds within a month, now also off anti depressants, thyroid meds, and statins. It's a miracle that British doctors need to start promoting to patients. We could save the NHS a fortune.

  29. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in May 2018 @ Glucose (mmol) 18.1. My doctor put me on Metformin and Linagliptin. About 9 months later, my glucose still wasn’t good though with the medication.
By chance, I came across some videos by Dr. Fung on YouTube. I took his advice on a low carb diet and intermittent fasting.
Last month I did a test and my fasting glucose was 3.9 and HBA1C at 5.3. My doctor took me off all medication totally!

  30. Thank you for this video. Is there a particular diet, or more accurately nutrition plan, that can do this? i.e. reduce sugar in the system?

  31. So, the doctors that aren't reducing the insulin levels in their patients, are killing their patients. …Treating the condition not the cause. So, what are they in the practice for? It sure isn't for our health and well being… Because they are making us worse if not DEAD…
Remember the saying: Everybody needs milk? that resulted in, Milk has something for everybody! 😃 Proof medicine is a practice; not a cure.
Reduce the carbs and sugar and FAST once weekly. Watch the protein. Wow EM. -How to eat to live. Books came out on the late 60s and 70s.
I am starting tomorrow. I lost the weight a year ago on a low carb diet but I did not fast. KMOA.
Dr. Fung and Kaiser will keep you posted. Think I will get a different health plan at open season, America. No more large health plans…they are for our dollar and NOT our health.
Dr. Fung says this plan is FREE. No meds, no large amounts of unhealthy foods! My goal for 2020.
    Any followers? 😃…

  32. pharmaceutical industry did not make a mistake when they prescribed us with insulin for our type II diabetes. this was an intentional business decision by the pharmaceutical industry. who makes money if your fasting? nobody. thats why fasting will never be promoted. all hail capitalism!

  33. Why does the rice diet work to cure type two diabetes? It removes fats and adds carbohydrates AND refined sugar along with some fruit. This diet is proven to do the same thing. So why does it work as well or better than fasting regularly?

  34. Just found your videos today ! well the thing is I have a question?? can I do the OZEMPIC SHOT. + KETO DIET
IM ALSO FASTING ..I START EATING AT 12 PM and my last meal is at 7 or 8 p.m.

  35. But doctor I agree in what you say that you need to treat the disease not the symptom. Ok. Now listen to this. The body already is insulin resistance even if you dont eat at all, your body is still insulin resistance no???? Even if you reduce all the sugar, when the pancreas releases sugar your body is still resistant. Same problem we didnt cure it then.

  36. Hi. I have been dieting since last 3 months. I have lost weight 10kg. But my fasting reading still at between 6.6mmol to 7.5mmol. This make me scare. Should i continue with dieting and fasting or i just take the medicine. The hospital gave me metformin.tq

  37. I’m doing the ketogenic diet my sugar is getting higher i use to go to the gym and my sugar goes down Now My number goes up after one hour . My A1 was 7.8 i lost 30 LB . When i was fasting last Ramadan my sugar was at 250 i going crazy about that anyway my doctor said you have tried on your own now i will give you injection . I said no and she insisted to try for a-big benefits it is OZempic .5 once a week with metformin 1000 mg 2 times a day . I do not want to take the injection . I went to a Nutrtion she gave me a list with what to ear and when like 6 times a day my body going off I really need help with that . Should i stay on my keto diet and get off the intermediate fasting ?

  38. I thought diabetes type 2 meant having little insulin? I’m confuseddd I’m pre diabetic it’s really high and I need to make sure that I tell my doctor the right things

  39. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 1 year ago , my A1C was 7.4 and my doctor wanted to start me on metformin . I declined a d changed my eating habit and started exercising. I cut my coffee intake down to 1 cup a day and incorporated 1 tsp of ceylon cinnamon into it every day .

  40. My husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 6 years ago. It steadily got worse, he was taking metphormin and the doctor decided to give him a added medication because he was averaging about 500. We saw Dr. Fung on here and decided to try the keto diet. I decided to do it with him for support as well as improving my own health. Long story short, My husband who has had to take diabetic medication for 6 years, has been off all his medicine for 6 days now, I myself have lost 10 pounds We both are extremely amazed and happy with these results.

  41. I want to thank Dr Jason.. for educating people like me… may 2019 my A1c was 6.7 yesterday got my lab results 5.5… it was very helpful watching his videos
    I took Berberine 3 times a day.. I cut my carbs.. I would also do fasting 3 times a week… I was at 210 pounds now I am 187

  42. The changes that has happened to me in 3 months is amazing! After 3 weeks i thought my diabetic tester was not working right and i went and got another one. I bought the book on fasting, then the diabetic code. Before i was out of control, a candidate for insulin my A1C 11.1 Now its 7.0 I still can’t believe it! I fast every other day snd it’s been only 3 months. Just amazing! Thank you Dr Fung Like i mentioned before You should get some type of an award……

  43. Thank you doctor Fung for sharing your valuable insights. While most of the things you say makes perfect sense, I am confused about a few issues:

    1) To me 'reversing' means ending. So if you suggest that type 2 diabetes is reversible, then at some point after your fasting recommendations, a T2D patient should be able to eat a cheesecake without having abnormal blood sugar levels– much like a non-diabetic person. Is such a scenario ever possible? If so, on average (I realize it differs case by case but I like to have a rough idea), how long of fasting and what type is required?

    2) What about patients that are lean with no sugar (or simple carbohydrate) diet and are still suffering from T2D disease? How is insulin resistance reversible in their case?

    3) Finally, would you be able to direct me to any resource that explain the mechanism of action that fasting can reverse insulin resistance? I understand how it can lead to weight loss and lower insulin levels but I can't figure out how insulin resistance at the cellular level can be cured or as you suggest be reversed.

I appreciate your time and assistance.

  44. Amazing men! I am not diabetic but both my parents have it and grandma. I am Hispanic therefore the odds are against me. I am an RN and do not believe in pharmaceutical companies! They are the devil 👿!
In order to prevent DM I take Blood Sugar Supplements twice, Berberine at noon, and intermittent fasting 16/8. I am at ideal weight but still do all this to prevent! Why wait to get Diabetes?! I see the detrimental effects of this horrible disease caused by over abundance of poor food choices. And our government is doing nothing to stop this! 🤦🏻‍♀️

  45. I totally agree with Dr Jason. I have been saying the same thing for decades (much to the aghast of my doctors). Doctors want you to use insulin by lying. I suspect that they were getting some kind of kickbacks, directly or indirectly. Insulin users were told that it is the most convenient and effective way to control diabetes. But from my observations insulin users are just like drug addicts… over time they use it more frequently, and in higher dosage. In addition, insulin injections, if not supplying to the insulin demand, will cause severe fluctuations ie hypo- and hyper-diabetics. This is very dangerous as the body cannot control the side effects.
I am a Muslim and fast for 30 days during the month of Ramadhan and I notice that within a week of fasting my glucose goes down from 7-8 to 5.5. Therefore, a simple solution is FASTING. The only question is HOW? This will depend on the individual. You have to experiment with your body and get the best regiment. I would fast + lower medication….
